CHAN, Tung Ching Simon
Part-time Lecturer

 

Simon is an independent director, scriptwriter, and editor with extensive professional experience across television drama, documentary, and commercial production. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media from Hong Kong Baptist University.

 

Prior to establishing his independent practice, Simon worked as a Programme Director in the News Departments of Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Hong Kong Cable Television Limited, where he directed live news programmes, outdoor broadcasts, talk shows, and promotional materials. As a freelance creative professional, Simon has worked extensively with Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) over many years, writing numerous television drama scripts and editing a wide range of documentary productions. He has also produced corporate videos and commercials for clients across both the private and public sectors, including HSBC, Prudential, the ICAC, and the Social Welfare Department.

 

Alongside his industry practice, Simon has over a decade of experience in higher education. Since 2013, he has been a part-time lecturer at HKU SPACE, where he teaches Visual Storytelling. He has also taught film and television scriptwriting at the Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University, since 2012.

 

His creative work, particularly his scriptwriting and editing contributions to RTHK productions, has been recognized with numerous international awards, including:
