Three Research Projects Led by Journalism and Communication Scholars Awarded UGC Funding

Congratulations to three researchers (Principal Investigators) at the Department of Journalism and Communication whose respective projects have been granted a total of more than HK$2 million in the 10th round of Competitive Research Funding Schemes under the University Grants Committee.

The project “Court news in the post-national security law Hong Kong: Examining the significance and journalistic roles, production, and contents of protests-/ politics-related court news”, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Dennis Leung, received funding of about HK$850,000. Another project led by Assistant Professor Dr. Grace Zhang, “Does Corporate Sociopolitical Activism Oriented Market Exits Benefit Corporate Brand Equity and Firm Profitability? Evidence from Corporate Exodus from Russia amidst the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War”, has been awarded more than HK$625,000. Both projects are awarded under the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS).

The research team led by Assistant Professor Dr. Crispy Tong (Co-Principal Investigator Dr. Keith Tsui) was granted funding from the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) for the project “Reviewing digital technology-driven marketing communications and future research directions: A cross-disciplinary dialogue between academics and practitioners”. It received funding of more than HK$560,000.
